Sisters!
There
sure are alot of famous sisters out there. Everyone of
course knows the Hilton sisters - Paris, and uh.... what's
her face....The Boring One. And you can't go anywhere
without hearing about the Olsens, Mary
Kate and Ashley. Flipper I'm sure was a great fan of
the Andrews
Sisters. The Mark no doubt is a fan of the Dahm
sisters. Of course I will never forget the Winslow
sisters and that night back in 88 at Wollaston Beach, when
a meal at the Clam
Box took on a whole new meaning. But what the hell
does this have to do with wrestling? Beats me, but it
reminds me of the following exchange between Gorilla
Monsoon and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan about the
Rosatti sisters.
Brain: "I looked it up. You
know what Rosatti means in Italian?"
Gorilla: "Sure. It means red, rich, full..."
Brian: Nope...it means lard.
Anyway,
I remember now what the point of this whole column is.
This column is actually a 2-fer. Instead of one exciting
website review, you get two for the price of one. Because
this week we look at a couple of Massachusetts based sister
promotions (clever how I tied that all together huh?) who
have quite different approaches to web presention. So
without further ado, lets get on witha the show!
First
up:
Well
it looks like simplicity is the goal here at SCCW. We
aren't going to see any new ground broken here. That
logo at the top is pretty neat, and what makes it
interesting is that it randomly rotates the logo so on
each visit it features a different worker. However for
some reason I see the Creeper more often than anyone
else. That guy gives me the jibblies. (n.
uncomfortable feeling of dread or horror. esp.
uncomfortable mental image.)
So just keep hitting refresh until he creeps out of
there, and everything will be alright. The site seems
to be very up to date, with a prominent listing of
upcoming events (including one apparently at a trailer
park?? - they could be on to something here). They
also hit you with a pretty good results listing of
past shows. There are a bunch of good quality pictures
from a past show, but they don't tell you who is who
in the pics. Does look like they drew a nice crowd
though. They even have a
forum, and it seems a few fans
keep it reasonably active. Unfortunately things are
about to get ugly. The talent bios are decent, but
they all seem to be scattered on various free webhosts.
So click on Allaylah
Silky and say hello to
Geocities popups, then click on Derek Destiny and let
Angelfire go wild. Of course this is preferable over
the cardinal sin of web design... The Dead Link. And
lo there are dead links here. The merchandise link is
dead, not to mention some of the talent bios. So on
that bad note, on to the scorecard...
CONTENT:
graphics:
Pretty simple stuff here,
the random logo is a good idea though. (11 out of 20
points)
information:
Not too shabby here. They
score with the forum, upcoming events, and results. No
title history though. (26 out of 35 points)
PRESENTATION:
creativity:
Well. Simple is not
necessarily a bad thing. Not a good thing either.
(11 out of 20 points)
web
design: Spreading content
over several free webhosts is amateurish. Dead links
are unacceptable. (10 out of 25 points)
TOTAL
SCORE:
58
out of a possible 100 (D) (A few easy fixes to this
site will make a world of difference)
And
now on to SCCW's sister:

Now maybe the folks
at SCCW are smarting over that score, but I think
they will feel a little better soon.
The YPW site starts
with a flash animation logo. Plus a promo graphic
for an upcoming show. It also proudly announces
"page created with Easy
Designer" Sigh.....
OK, you stay here,
I'll go in alone. No use getting 2 of us ill. Woah,
wait, this doesn't look so bad... and hey!,
coupons for some shows! Unfortunately they are
coupons for shows that were 3 MONTHS AGO!!! But
forget that, let's take a look at the latest
commentary. You know, the one written 5 MONTHS
AGO!!! OK, don't get me wrong, there is some
decent stuff here. The profiles are pretty
thorough, but someone is in love with funky page
transitions. No idea how up to date this roster
is, based on the status of the rest of the site.
They do have a working store, selling a video and
the Huey
McGraw shirt. The rankings page is actually up
to date. The forum seems to be where the lazy
webmaster posts any news or up to date results.
The forum is however apparently closed to the
public.
CONTENT:
graphics:
The finest
Easy Creator has to offer. (7 out of 20)
information:
Up to date, as long as you
read the forum postings.... Except of course for
the expired coupons. And unlock the damn forum.
(17 out of 35)
PRESENTATION:
creativity:
A cookie
cutter website. (5 out of 20 points)
web
design: Fairly neat.
All links work. Irritating page transitions
though. (12 out of 25 points)
TOTAL SCORE: 41
out of a possible 100 (F) (This site needs
TLC...lots of it)
