One
of the purposes of the Target Practice feature on
WrestlingMark.com is to showcase up and coming promotions and
workers throughout New England. We recently caughtup with
Yankee Pro's own Huey McGraw on the heels of His and Tag
Partner Woody McGraw's stunning Victory at Vindications bloody
TLC match.
His 7 foot 320 frame is shadowed only by this mans respect for
the buisness and the veterans that came before him.
WRESTLINGMARKCOM:
What made you want to become a wrestler?
Huey: I just been watching it on TV so long I always wanted to
try it and see were I can go with it
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: How did you get into the business?
Huey: well I emailed YPW asking them if they could train me
and they said yes so I started training with them and now I
work shows for them
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: How long have you been working shows for
them now?
Huey: well I’ve been training with them for over a year now
but I’ve only been working shows since last April
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: Who were your trainers?
Huey: Nick Steel and Brick House Baker
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: At seven feet 320 pounds you bring something
unique to New England Wrestling, do you feel this is a benefit
or a hindrance to you as a worker, and why?
Huey: I think its a benefit because I get booked for a lot of
away shows which is always good were if I was a small guy I
would not so I think being big is a good thing
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: What does the Indies offer that the WWE does
not?
Huey: I thing the Indies offers a lot to young talent that the
wwe does not because the wwe has so much talent that they cant
really do a lot with them. Unlike the Indies were in one fed
you might not be used a lot but if you go to a different fed
you might get used a lot, you have more opportunities in the
Indies then u might in the WWE
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: There are a lot of Big Name Wrestling
schools out there today; some are better than others, what
made you pick YPW?
Huey: I pick ypw simply cause it was the closest to me and I
kinda new some things about it from what some of my friends
that were training there at the time told me
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: Tell me about your relationship with Woody.
Huey: we have a good relationship I mean were like brothers we
hang out in and out side of wrestling he’s a good guy and he
helps me out we I get lost in matches
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: What are the best aspects of the business?
Huey: I like how the fans react to what happens and how
excited they get when there favorite wrestler comes out even
though were not the WWE the fans still love what we do
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: What are the worst aspects?
Huey: traveling is bad but it depends on who your traveling
with that could make it better
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: What do you think of the current state of
wrestling?
Huey: wrestling right now as a whole I think it can only get
better and I think if ECW and WCW were still around you would
see a lot of new fresh talent getting there chance to shine
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: You have worked with some of the top stars
in New England, Nick Steel, and Brick House Baker,
Commissioner Candido to name a few. What is that like?
Huey: I think its awesome, I learn some thing new each time I
work a veteran, they really guide you through the match and
give you pointers on how you can get better after the match
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: In today's wrestling, big spots seem to take
center stage over working a match. What's your philosophy?
Huey: big spots are good but if there are to many of them then
after a while they seem to get old, that’s why they should
not be done all the time
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: Given your ideal situation how long a match
would you like to work?
Huey: well the TLC match was 20 mins. And I think it went well
so any were from 5 -20 mins. Is good for normal matches but if
your in a big match such as TLC or last man standing your
gonna need more time like 20-30 mins. I think
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: I had the opportunity to meet with members
of your family at Vindication, and they seem very supportive
of you. How important is that to you and is that support as
common for others?
Huey: well I love the support that I get from my family and
for the most part the support is common for others
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: If you could work a match with anyone alive
or dead, who would it be?
Huey: id like to work the Dudley boyz cause they are one of my
favorite tag teams and cause they have been around for a while
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: What do you tell someone looking to break
into the business?
Huey: find a wrestling school that you like and train and
think of a good gimmick
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: Where do you see yourself in five years?
Huey: hopefully having a WWE developmental contract or maybe
working for NWA-TNA or working the Indies with a good job on
the side
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: How did your gimmick come about?
Huey: it was pretty much all Woody’s gimmick and they
thought I would fit it well so they gave me a first name and I
debuted as Woody’s little brother at April anarchy
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: Next lets play name association. You've been
in the locker room with some big names in the business. I’ll
give you some names and you give me your opinion on them.
Nick Steel
Huey: great wrestler great trainer great shooter
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: Brick House Baker
Huey: also great trainer great at helping you get spots down
funny guy
WRESTLINGMARKCOM: Commissioner Candido
Huey: good on the mic good wrestler

see him in the WWE one day
